This holographic installation honors the could've been, should've been leaders, mentors, and lovers of the LGBTQ+ community lost during the AIDS epidemic during the 80s and 90s. Using Pepper’s Ghost, holograms tell the stories of over 30 individuals whose potential was never fully realized. A rotary dial allows viewers to navigate through their collective history, while a simple button offers an intimate look at each person’s unique contributions and accomplishments.
This project serves as a space for reflection and celebration, ensuring that the legacy of those lost lives on. It’s not just a tribute, but a bridge to reach out to the next generation of young queer people, introducing them to the cultural inheritance left behind. It reminds us all of the profound impact these individuals could have had on the world, and the strength they passed on to us.
