Josh Sun(εθΏ) is a multimedia artist based in Manhattan, New York. Originally from China, he moved to New York in 2014. As a queer artist, he immortalizes the shared traumas of minority communities, delving into hidden connections that are often shrouded in shame and severed by enmity.
Employing mediums such as projection mapping, virtual reality, interactive installations and motion graphics, he crafts physical and digital spaces to preserve forgotten and untold legacies. His interdisciplinary practice documents the negative space and vacancy left by queer individuals who are no longer with us, giving voice to the violence and silence faced by the Asian community. Believing that "your trauma is your parade," he transforms individual and collective pain into powerful artistic expressions.
Though pivoting to fine art, Josh has also been an art director in the advertising industry, with a keen eye for design. This experience has honed his ability to think critically, produce work, and lead projects. His background contributes to his hypersensitivity to subject matters and his capacity to respond creatively and instinctively to social justice issues through art.
