Josh Sun (孙远) is a multimedia artist and art director based in New York. Originally from China, he moved to the U.S. in 2014. As a queer artist navigating life between two cultural landscapes, he works from the uneasy space between visibility and erasure: a queer body in a world opening toward him, and an Asian immigrant in a world closing in.

Josh builds emotionally loaded spaces, both physical and digital, that give form to cultural residue, queer memory and collective trauma. Working across projection mapping, Unreal Engine, and interactive installation, he invites audiences to speak the silent part out loud: to confront what’s been inherited from generational wounds, buried beneath shame, or normalized through pop culture spectacle.

Before pivoting to fine art, Josh worked as an award-winning advertising art director, recognized by the Webby and Clio Awards. That background gives his artwork a sharp narrative spine and visual precision. His work has been presented in curated exhibitions at NYU Tisch and as part of the DUMBO Projection Project public art series.
