It’s week four of quarantine. You need a haircut. Bad. Tom Hanks from Castaway kind of bad. But you can’t go to a barber. So you turn to your mom, dad, brother, sister, wife, or boyfriend for help. Guess what? They’re no barber.
Noticing that Google searches for “home haircut” were up over 400%, we launched Quarancuts Virtual Hair School. It’s complimentary haircut training, via Zoom, from master stylist and owner of Barba Men’s Grooming Boutique, Xavier Cruz.
We launched the campaign on Instagram Live with a video of our first student—Billy Porter. Grammy winner, Tony winner and now… barber.
Role: Art Director / Designer / Animator
Every student “barber” to complete the training received an amateur barber certification. And the daring soul that got a haircut? They got a certificate of bravery. We followed the launch with social content encouraging people to book a lesson ASAP. And all haircuts were broadcasted on IGTV for everyone to watch and learn. Because, really, what else were we doing during quarantine.
Watch Xavier and his husband JP (our Creative Director of this project) on Kelly & Ryan giving them haircut lessons.
